NTU joined the international declaration on road safety
The National Transport University has joined the international initiative – the declaration The New Paradigm for Safe City Streets, which defines modern principles for the formation of safe city streets.
The declaration was developed under the coordination of the leading European networks in the field of urban mobility – POLIS Network and EUROCITIES. It is aimed at strengthening the role of cities and regions in implementing a systemic approach to road safety.
The main idea of the declaration is to transition to a new paradigm – the creation of transport systems in which human life and health are an absolute priority. The document emphasizes that mortality and serious injuries on the roads are not an inevitable consequence of urban mobility, but can be prevented through effective policy, infrastructure solutions and transport management.
The signing of the declaration took place during the Annual Polis Conference 2019 and became an important step towards achieving the strategic goal of zero road deaths by 2050.

NTU’s accession to this declaration confirms the university’s desire to:
- implement the principles of sustainable and safe mobility;
- support the development of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure;
- integrate European approaches to road safety into the educational process and scientific research;
- contribute to the formation of a new culture of road safety in Ukraine.
This step also strengthens the university’s international cooperation and opens up new opportunities for participation in joint European projects aimed at improving the safety and quality of the urban environment.
NTU continues to actively participate in global initiatives that shape the future of sustainable, safe and human-centered mobility.
