On April 21, 2018, the University held an Open Day

On April 21, 2018, the University held the third spring series Open Day. Although sunny weather was inviting young people to go for a walk, they resisted the temptation and gathered in the gala hall of National Transport University as it was high time for them to choose a higher educational establishment and their future profession.

Some of them visited the University not only to learn about National Transport University and its majors, but also to take part in the second round of the all-Ukrainian Career Guidance Olympiad of National Transport University for secondary school leavers.

Vice-Rector for Academic Work, Prof. Hryshchuk O. K. opened the meeting and introduced the Presidium: Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Information Technologies, Prof. Danchuk V. D, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Management, Logistics and Tourism, Associate Prof. Kharuta V. S., First Vice-Rector, Prof. Biliakovych M.O., Admissions Committee Secretary, Prof. Filipova H.A., Dean of the Faculty of Transport Construction, Prof. Slavinska O.S., Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Law, Prof. Bondar N.M. and Dean of the Faculty of Automotive and Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Mateichyk V. P. There were the heads of the university departments, top lecturers and the deputy of the Kyiv City Council, Storozhuk V. P. among the guests of the University.

First Vice-Rector, Prof. Biliakovych M.O. spoke about the present-day University and its history, presented a brief overview of the university majors and Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees Curricula. Prof. Filipova H.A. focused on the details of the entrance campaign in 2018. The deputy of the Kyiv City Council, Storozhuk V. P. stressed the importance of the right career choice pointing out that skilled professionals are of great value in Ukraine. He also expressed the hope that some of today’s guests of the university will be obtaining higher education diplomas in this hall in a few years.

After that, as a matter of routine, the guests had a chance to communicate with the deans, lecturers and students.

Dean of the Faculty of Automotive and Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Mateichyk V. P. conducted an interesting tour of the Faculty.

The guests visited the computer class of the Faculty and listened to the Dean speaking about the faculty majors and curricula.

They also saw the Department of Road Building Machines laboratories, Road Building Machines Scientific and Training Center equipped with the support of Zeppelin-Ukraine, the official representative of Caterpillar(USA), which is a leading manufacturer of road building machines.

Associate Prof. Vysokovych Ye. V., Senior Lecturer Levkivskyi S. A. and Head of the Department, Prof. Musiiko V. D. told the guests about the department and its branch at Construction Machinery Company, the JCB (Great Britain) company representative in Ukraine, department research and training prospects for students.

Prospective applicants were particularly interested in the machinery for main pipelines repairs and military and engineering vehicles designed by the department. The fact that students do their internships at foreign companies’ machine-building enterprises in Ukraine and at Ukrainian plants where they acquire necessary practical skills in designing, manufacturing and operating modern construction and road machines aroused intense interest among the guests.

In the Engines and Thermal Engineering Department laboratory the head of the laboratory Pavlenko V. O. told the guests about the engines mounted on test stands.

In the Department of Automobiles research laboratory the visitors were welcomed by Prof. Poliakov V. M. and Assistant Lecturer Razboinikov O.O.

Oleksandr Oleksandrovych tried to show the guests as much as possible of what might be interesting for a true motorist. This time it is a display stand called Chassis of a Car , which is used to study a car design,

as well as cars to  carry out laboratory and road tests.

The visitors could also see a car having been redesigned by Oleksandr Oleksandrovych to do experiments on active suspension and different engines to study power plants.

A stand to study independent suspension and steering mechanisms is one of the test stands to research power plants and car mechanisms created by the Department staff and students.

After that the guests had an opportunity to communicate with Prof. Syrota V. I., the author of the innovative ideas and the creator of the above mentioned stands.

In the end, the visitors were demonstrated a hybrid, all-wheel steering car designed by the Department staff. It was derived from DANA ZAZ-1105 cars.

The tour of the Faculty ended in the Department of Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Service laboratory, on the basis of which NTU vehicle scientific training center was founded in 2015 within the framework of the long-term agreement on cooperation between the University and Scania Ukraine, the official distributor of a world-renowned Swedish manufacturer of SCANIA trucks and buses.

The guests saw a variety of technological equipment for diagnosing and technical maintenance of cars, as well as the cars presented to the University by partner firms.

Ukrainian Automobile Corporation (UkrAVTO Corporation), which is one of the partner firms of the University, takes part in training specialists according to Autoservice educational program at the Scientific Training Production Complex called NTU-UkrAVTO and provides graduates with a guaranteed work place and decent pay.

 The next University Open Day will be held on  12 May , 2018
