National Transport University Joins the CIVITAS Educational Network
In September 2026, representatives of the National Transport University (NTU) took part in CIVITAS Forum 2026, one of the key European events dedicated to the development of sustainable and innovative urban mobility.
As part of the Forum, a meeting of the CIVITAS Educational Network was held. The Network brings together universities and educational institutions working in the field of transport and mobility, creating opportunities for knowledge and experience exchange, international cooperation, and stronger links between education, research, and practice. It currently brings together more than 100 educational institutions from 31 countries.
The meeting was attended by Olga Kunytska, Professor of the Department of Transport Systems and Road Traffic Safety at the National Transport University, who presented the university and its educational initiatives in the field of modern urban mobility.
NTU Joins the CIVITAS Educational Network
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the joining of the National Transport University to the CIVITAS Educational Network.
For NTU, membership opens up new opportunities for international exchange of experience in transport education, the development of joint educational initiatives, engagement with European experts, and expanded opportunities for students.
One of the examples of NTU’s modern educational initiatives presented during the meeting was the “Planning and Organisation of Cycling Mobility” course — the first academic course of its kind in Ukraine.
The course was developed and implemented through collaboration between the National Transport University, U-Cycle (Kyiv Cyclists’ Association), and the Bike City Consulting team. Its distinctive feature is the combination of theoretical training with practical work, enabling students to address real-world cycling mobility challenges in Ukrainian communities.
Developing Transport Education in a European Context
NTU’s participation in the CIVITAS Educational Network is a natural continuation of the university’s work to modernise transport education and introduce new areas into the curriculum, including sustainable and inclusive mobility, cycling, digital technologies, and modern transport planning.
An important part of the meeting was the exchange of experience with European universities and experts, as well as discussions on opportunities for future cooperation.
Particular attention was also given to supporting Ukrainian universities and strengthening their integration into the European urban mobility community.
Joining the CIVITAS Educational Network strengthens the National Transport University’s international connections and creates new opportunities for students and academic staff — from participating in joint educational activities and international knowledge exchange to developing new courses and collaborative projects.
